Fix Cabin

Fix Cabin

The Fix Cabin was built at the end of the 1800s by Monrod Fix, a Civil War veteran moving his family to Umatilla County. He, his wife Regina, and their children settled in the Alkali Canyon area, where they farmed and raised livestock. He cut down the timber, hauled it 20 miles by horse, planed it, and constructed the home with the help of a hired man. After the family stopped living in the cabin, it served as a bunkhouse for ranch hands until the 1960s.
